420 Camp

Beginner sailors seeking adventure!

1-Week Sessions: Starting June 12, 2023.
We will not be offering Learn to Sail classes the week of July 3-7 (only race camps on the 5th, 6th, and 7th.)

Schedule: 9am – 4pm Monday through Friday

Program Cost: $420 per student

Who should take this course?
Beginner/intermediate sailors, ages 11-17, who have completed 5th-10th grades.

What if my child has some sailing experience?
Instructors are conscious of varied levels of experience but none is required. Staff will arrange classes so as to accommodate all levels of learning. If you’ve taken this class and feel confident in your sailing skills, you may want to consider our 420 Advanced Camp or 420 Learn-to-Race for even more fun!

What will my child learn?
On a typical day, our US Sailing Certified instructors will introduce new material in a classroom setting before heading out to spend the majority of the day on the water. While on the water, sailors will receive group and one-on-one coaching to improve skills and sense of confidence on the water. As the class grows and learns together, the instructors will introduce adventure sails in addition to shorter trips. STEM lessons, swimming, sailing games, and other physical activities are interspersed throughout the day in order to make this a fun group experience for all!

What do we need to bring?
Students must bring their own lunches and snacks as well as a lifejacket, change of clothes, swimsuit, water shoes, sunscreen and towel. We find it best to wear a swimsuit under shorts/t-shirt each day.

What comes next?
We recommend 2 or more one-week camps for those who really want to improve their sailing skills. Graduates from this class do well in our 420 Advanced, 420 Learn-to-Race, 420 Racing, and/or our High School programs.
