Help Future Generations Set Their Sails on a Bright Future in Sailing!
Hearing about the amount of interest in classes offered by the MBJA is always encouraging for anyone who loves sailing. Of course, heightened interest—while essential for the future of sailing in Holland—means an increased need to expand and maintain our fleet.
You might ask “What about the tuition?” The money we collect from tuition paid by students and families only serves to cover our direct operating costs. For capital additions, MBJA relies upon charitable contributions from community members. The funds received by our not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization enable us to purchase and maintain safe equipment so our youth can learn the ropes.

Equipment Needs
Have any old sailing equipment stashed away in your barn or garage that are no longer in use? We would be grateful to take any of the following items off your hands!
- Gently used J22 spinnakers
- Used Laser sailboats
- Used Opti sailboats
- Hardware for J22, Laser, 420 or Opti
MBJA depends upon a number of marine professionals who support our program.

MBJA Scholarships Put the Wind in Their Sails
In addition to capital expenditures, donations are used to fund our scholarship program. Both our sponsors and board members strongly believe family and financial circumstances should not be a barrier for a junior sailor to participate in our classes. (Since this can be a sensitive matter, we do keep all requests for scholarships confidential.)
The recipients of these scholarships are able to receive exceptional instruction and develop the skills necessary to be valuable members of our sailing community. In time, they can potentially become your fellow shipmates!
When you donate to MBJA, you can take pride in the fact your contribution serves to secure the future of Holland sailing and open the door for future generations of sailors. All donations are—and always have been—used to keep tuition for our sailing school as low as possible. This level of affordability and accessibility has enabled countless West Michigan children and young adults to experience the thrill and joy of sailing on open waters.
Everyone associated with Macatawa Bay Junior Association truly appreciates every donation we receive, regardless as to the size of the contribution. We know every dollar is given in a generous spirit and with the aim of keeping our organization available to educate and guide young (and some “not so young”) sailors in our community.
We encourage you to please consider helping us grow sailing here in West Michigan by making a tax-deductible contribution to MBJA. On behalf of our board, and everyone in the association, we thank you so much for your generosity.
